P90X +
By FitCoachTinaYou asked for it and here it is…P90X Plus will take it up another level with intense cardio, more muscle chiseling moves and an entirely new core routine.
So you’ve completed P90X and you’re wondering, “What now?” Tony Horton has come up with the next step – P90X PLUS!
With 5 totally new workouts and new music from Jason Scheff (lead singer of Chicago), these workouts will take the X to a new level and create entirely new workout combinations that will make plateaus a thing of the past. But these workouts aren’t for everyone. You should first complete P90X and obtain a respectable level of fitness. While these are able to be modified, they are ADVANCED workouts at a high intensity.
The workouts are all 40-45 min (shorter than some of the original P90X workouts) with the exception of Abs/Core Plus which is 20 min. They include workouts like Interval X Plus, Kenpo Cardio Plus, Upper Plus and Total Body Plus. This time around the workouts come with a fitness guide and a new “Trainer Track” on the DVDs you can select that will give you tips on form and how to achieve even better results.
Tina’s Input:
After doing 3 rounds of P90X, I’d grown a bit tired of it. I found myself looking for other workouts to do. I wanted to keep the intensity of P90X but figured if I could recite Tony’s jokes before he did, it was time to change things up. Then came P90X Plus!
I LOVE these workouts. I thought that I was in a pretty fit place until I tried Intervals. Since then, I LIVE for Interval training. This will take your cardio training up at least 3 notches.
Ab Ripper X had become routine, enough that I didn’t feel a burn even at the advanced level, but Ab/Core Plus changed all of that. It burned EVERY time I do it! And Kenpo Cardio is my new favorite. I LOVED KenpoX but the Plus takes these moves up a notch as well and you will be burning fat and sweating like never before with this one.
Total Body is a MONSTER of a workout that will have you shaking and unable to do one more rep by the end (at that’s at the first level). The 360 Pushups are just insane and Tony has really outdone himself on this one.
The only workout that I didn’t do often was the Upper Plus. Not because it’s not a great workout (it is) but I found I liked to target the muscles like we did in the X (different muscle groups on different days). This is good for someone who doesn’t want to put in as much time as the X weight workouts but it seemed a little difficult to combine with the X and still get the same benefits (muscular growth) to me. But I do use it on my recovery weeks or when I’m doing more cardio and less muscle building cycles.
All in all, I have found the X Plus to be well-worth the investment as it’s given me an entirely new level to reach for in my cardio and core training. It really is the X taken up a notch and won’t let you down if you’re looking for more P90X! It turned out to be a very natural progression and won’t leave you disappointed.
